One of the things discussed last night was how siloed a lot of the various Cleveland technology groups tend to be, and the hope that a hackerspace can be an intersection point for these groups.  In that spirit I'm starting a thread where we try to list as many of these groups as we can.  Last night I heard of several that were completely new to me and I've lived in NE Ohio for years!  I'd love to see this information make its way onto a page on the website somewhere.  Below is my list:

Northeast Ohio Information Security Forum - http://www.neoisf.org
Membership: Free, Open to the public
When:  6PM 3rd Wednesday of each month
Where: Park Center Plaza #1, 6100 Oak Tree Blvd, off Rockside Road, Independence, Ohio
What: A monthly gathering of information security professionals and anyone else interested in security.  Typically two presentations, free pizza and pop for attendees thanks to sponsors.  Topics have included: penetration testing, PCI compliance, exploit development, social networking security, intrusion detection, PDF analysis, incident response

Security Justice Podcast - http://securityjustice.com
Membership: Free, Open to the public
When:  3rd Wednesday of each month, roughly 9pm. Directly after NEOISF
Where: currently Damon's Ribs 4181 Rockside Road Seven Hills, OH
What: we do a live recording/broadcast of our security podcast after each months NEOISF from a nearby bar.  Anyone interested is invited to come listen, have a beer, and jump in on any discussions we're having

Cleveland Locksport
Membership: Free, Open to the public
When:  2pm-5pm 3rd Saturday of each month
Where: Starbucks (upstairs meeting room) 19555 Detroit Road, Cleveland Ohio
What: Informal monthly group that gets together to pick locks.  We've got folks who just started, and some who've done this for years.  If you have any interest in learning more about locks and physical security come show up and learn!

2600 - http://oh2600.org
Membership: Free, Open to the public
When:  7pm, first Friday of each month
Where: Panera Bread,  4103 Richmond Rd. Warrensville Hts, OH 44122
What: Informal monthly meeting where geeks get together and talk about just about anything.  Locks get picked, makerbots get brought out, website hacks get discussed.

Infragard - http://www.nocinfragard.org
Membership: Some meetings are open to the public, some require membership.  No cost for membership but does require FBI background check
When:  Quarterly, location and times vary.
Where: Usually Ohio Peace Officers Academy in Richfield for open meetings and Cleveland FBI office for closed ones
What: Infragard is an outreach group from the FBI to security professionals in the private sector.  Meetings are very formal and have included speakers from NASA, Diebold, Cleveland Clinic, and the FBI.  Topics vary across many segments of security, typically high level.

NEO ISSA - http://www.neoissa.org/
Membership: Most meetings appear to be free, but actually belonging to the national ISSA organization requires $95/yr
When:  Monthly.
Where: Parma branch of Cuyahoga Community Library 7335 Ridge Road
What: local chapter of a national organization focused on information security.  Appears to be more centered on compliance, tomorrow will be my first meeting ;)

ISACA - http://www.isaca-neohio.org
Membership: Meetings are open, cost is $40 for ISACA members and $50 for non-members.  Includes food
When:  Monthly.
Where: Varies
What: local chapter of a national organization focused on IT and security audits.  Talks include both audit and information security topics.

I'm sure there are more I'm forgetting, not sure which other groups are still active.

Would it be appropriate to have the next Lock Sport and 2600 meetings
at the Burning River space? It is more central than Panera or
Starbucks.

We're going to talk about exactly that at this sat's locksport. For
this month at least well be at the old location

2600 is trickier, as the whole point is to have that in a public
place. Thats probably something worth discussing over on the oh2600
list
