What are monthly costs looking like for the space you have?
Sent from my iPhone
There were some questions that others have asked that couldn't call
in. Security is a concern, but it sounded like that is something that
is still being figured out.
Another concern is parking, but from what I could see on Google street
view it has a parking lot.
Liability was another question, but I've seen that asked on this group
site, so I guess it is still a question.
One concern of mine has been how this group is run. The Makers
Alliance is going to be run so that every member gets a vote, and I
would like to still see that.
Also, what were those dates that were mentioned? Jan 12 for a meetup
at the space, and weekend of Feb 19 as kind of an open house?

You mentioned getting incorporated, board of directors and all that. Makers Alliance is already incorporated as a non profit, has a board and bylaws, etc. Is there a way we could leverage that? If anyone wants to talk about details of the MA incorporation, Justin (skyspook) is the one to talk to.

Hi Eric
Thanks for dialing in.. We are open to figuring out the security as a group. We can do what we want to the building as the building is being knocked down in a year to 15 months.
Liability.. we know we have to cross this bridge but for the first events, we will have everyone sign a waver for each event that releases the group (specifically me and Dar) and GCA. Once we figure out the incorporation stuff, we can have a formal waver as part of the signup process.
I think that we will have a board as every ship need someone to guide the efforts of the group. However we want this to be membership driven as I think you can see by the emails so far. I feel the board's role is just to create the environment for the projects to succeed.
As for the one vote, ideally I think we would love to keep this as well. However I do not want to get into a situation where we need all members to vote for every little thing. I think the board will have significant input for the day to day things and the major items will go to the members. I think the more open the community the better similar to open source software.
We are all about having fun here. I deal with enough politics at work and do not need these things in my fun time.
Yes Jan 12 for the meetup and Feb 19 for the Makerbot event. We were thinking $25-50 for the event to raise money for incorporating but we can work through that point if we join forces.
