Hi Nemerle Team & Community!

I'm writing on behalf of Norwegian Developers Conference 2012. NDC is
the biggest conference for .NET and agile development in Northern
Europe. Last year we had over 1500 attendees, and we are hoping for
even more 6th - 8th of June 2012. At NDC we invite the best speakers
world wide - in the past years our speakers include names such as:
Robert C. Martin, Mike Cohn, Douglas Crockford, Scott Hanselman, Rob
Conery, Rafal Lucawiecki, Jon Skeet, Eric Lipper, Corey Haines and
many others.

I think Nemerle is the most interesting language on the .NET platform
right now. I think it should be featured at the conference, and we are
therefore interested to invite someone to speak about Nemerle at NDC
2012. Does anyone in the Nemerle team do conference talks about the
language, or are willing to do so? If not, do you recommend someone I
can get in touch with?

Hi,

The presentation should be in English?

Hello,

You should contact Philip Laureano (author of LinFu). He expressed his
wish to talk about Metaprogramming in general and Nemerle in
particular at NDC2012!

Currently Philip develops Tao - a framework to modify .NET assemblies
- in Nemerle.

Best regards,
Igal.

Thanks! I was already thinking about him - after hearing the
DotNetRocks podcast.

I think, better candidate to present Nemerle at this conference - Igor Tkachev. He is a very passionate advocate for Nemerle, been with the project from almost the very begining and he is well versed in all the intricacies of of both language and compiler, and he also worked on Nemerle integration into Visual Studio. I had preliminary conversation with him regarding whether he is willing to do that and he was very enthusiastic about this opportunity to represent Nemerle. Please contact Igor - it at rsdn.ru.

And one more question. A presentation of a programming language, like
Nemerle, takes a long time. At least three-four hours. Would it be
possible to allocate this time?

I guess it will be impossible to cover everything. At a conference
like NDC I don't think you will be able to get the audience to
sit for three-four hours listening to a single topic when there are so
many great talks I'm afraid.

The standard session-size is one hour, and I'm thinking there should
be maybe 2 or 3 sessions about Nemerle, concentrating on what makes
the language different and special - and how .NET developers can take
advantage of it.

Then you could possibly organize a more intimate, informal gathering
of people interesting in experimenting and learning more outside of
the sessions.

I'll talk to the rest of the program comittee about this, and then
I'll contact Igor directly.

You're welcome! The rest of the comittee was exited about this as
well, and Igor should now have received my e-mail.
