Subject: New Voice of Old Westbury

Dear Friends and Neighbors,

First and foremost, we would like to thank you all for your support and votes. We consider it a privilege to serve every single one of you in a more transparent and honest way than you have become accustomed to in the past.

As election night closed back on June 16th, we felt certain that the community’s voice would be heard and there would be three new trustees in town with a mandate to represent your interests; however, due to antiquated voting machines and arcane election law, the intent of the voters was ignored. Leslie Fastenberg received 24 additional votes that were picked apart and argued over by the opposition, even though her name was clearly written. Our opponents fought hard in court to prevent those votes from counting, and even went so far as to administer the Oath of Office to Andrew Weinberg despite a court ordered stay, in hopes of further subverting the will of the people.

So where are we today? The New York Supreme Court conducted a recount and declared the race a tie (with 24 clear votes for Leslie left on the table). Once again, we need you to come out for Leslie Fastenberg, the person who “won” this election against a trustee appointed (not elected) by the Mayor. Leslie was the person responsible for motivating our community to come out and demand change, and we urge you to join us in giving her the support she deserves.

Many of you have shared stories of being approached by certain individuals campaigning for the incumbent. We all need to ask ourselves: who is doing the asking here, and what might they stand to gain by maintaining the status quo? Our campaign was run on the simple platform of transparency and communication and now we urge you to come out and vote for Leslie again on September 8th from 12pm to 9pm. Lets make some real positive changes that will benefit our entire community by voting for a passionate and qualified trustee candidate, Leslie Fastenberg!

Thank you again for all of  your support.

Very truly yours,

Cory Baker and Marina Chimerine
