Hello Husker Fans,

Jordon Congdon visits with Pete Carroll
http://www.insidesocal.com/usc/archives/2007/01/new_kicker.html#more

Not sure what to make of this. My hunch is he was fed up with the
lack of trust on long field goals (deserved or not). He also could
just be homesick.

Some people on the rivals board are saying he lied about the whole
liver thing, but I believe they found another donor so he didn't
have to.

Im sure Jordan's a great kid and he is a good kicker, but unless he gains quite a bit of leg strength my bet is Carroll wont use him on long attempts either if he ends up at USC.

So then why doesn't he come back to Lincoln? Unless there are other
reasons for him to leave the team, it sounds like the one reason he
gave isn't a reason anymore.

A friend of mine met Congdon's parents at the Cotton Bowl. Sat in the same
row/section/behind them, whatever the case was. My friend left the game
absolutely positive that Congdon would not be back. Congdon's parents made
it clear, in a classy and polite way too, how they felt about BC and
company.
My two cents here. This is Nebraska, this is college football. It is NOT a
factory or a job.

I'm not so sure, take a look at this from last year: http://tinyurl.com/yqaons

About two thirds of the way down the article John Mabry says,
"Congdon's most majestic kick was a 47-yarder that would have been
good from 57". According to Mabry, Congdon made 6 of 7 attempts
between 40 and 50 yards. Say what you want, I kicked some in high
school, if you can make 6 of 7 from >40 yards, you don't have a weak
leg.

You don't have to be a rocket scientist to know that something else
is at play here.

My understanding is that the high school kickers can kick off of a tee,
which accounts for some longer field goals.

Surely someone on this list must have seen him kicking in pregame warmups..

Did he show that kind of distance?

I was at the Texas game sitting 8 rows up behind the goalposts on the
south end of the stadium and watched Congdon, in warm-ups, attempt field
goals (with the wind) and he couldn't hit them from 40 yds with no
pressure. I don't know what happened but his kicking leg seemed less
powerful this year.
