and possibly in 1.7 also.

I had a similar problem before and it turned out to be the wysiwyg pro
editor. Now, I can't even make changes to the global config including
changing the editor.

I first noticed it today when trying to enable Show Site Name in the
global config. It wouldn't save the change, so I thought, time to
upgrade to 2.5 and maybe that'll fix it.

Well, I have upgraded, and I was able to make that change, but that's
all... now I can't save any edits to articles or to module params.
nor can I change the editor or anything else in the global config.

I'm running 2.5.1. I've upgraded to the latest JCE version.

I've logged in with my own and my client's credentials, same deal both
ways.

Hi Meg,

I also encountered very similar problems.  The solution that worked for me was to look at the system information under site.  Click on directory permissions and see if there are any files set to unwritable.  If they are then you need to change the directories permissions to 777 read/write/execute all.

As a sidenote - The other thing that happened with the move to 2.5 from a 1.7 site was the global configuration's css was gone.  This was fixed by deleting a php.ini file that was located in libraries/joomla/databases/databases.  Very strange and a pain to figure out.

Just thought I'd share since 2.5 has been a bit of a bear.

I fixed it this time, much easier than your solution. I cleared Firefox's cache -- problem solved!
