Discount van service from Cambridge to Amherst/Northampton 
  I was recently thinking that someone should start a discount bus between Boston and the Pioneer Valley, and I just came across a new one. Wellesley bridge project delayed another year 
  The bridge carrying Route 16 over Route 9 in Wellesley, Mass. will not be complete before next summer. The two year project started in 2003. <[link]>

New exit off Route 128? 
  Braintree, Mass. accepted part of Wood Road as a public way in order to advance plans for a new ramp connecting that road to Route 128 (aka I-93). I don't think that project will ever be built. The only way to really improve traffic flow through the area involves paving over part of the Blue Hills reservation. I'd like to see Route 28 partially... more »

New 2009 Version of MUTCD Released 
  [link] The FHWA released its newest MUTCD (Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices) today. For those unfamiliar it includes design standards from everything from traffic signals to highway signage. It is changes in the rules of the latter that could have a big effect on exit signage... more »

More US 20 improvements 
  Mass DOT is advancing plans to improve 3.2 miles of US 20 from the end of the divided highway in Charlton to the intersection with Route 12 at the Oxford-Auburn town line. The design standards would be similar to the Charlton project -- divided highway with turn lanes and better geometry than the old road.... more »
