The Sagamore Bridge is reduced to one lane each way during
construction. WBZ traffic reports usually mention a long
delay for off-Cape traffic and no delay for on-Cape traffic.
Delays are the same morning and afternoon. It is not the
sort of pattern one would get from ordinary commuter or
tourist traffic, slow one way in the morning and the other
way in the afternoon. Why does a lane reduction cause so
much more delay in one direction than the other?
