Boring details of the MA local meals tax

The state meals tax rate is 6.25%, with a local option to raise it to 7%. The following cities and towns voted for the local increase. The increase was effective on 10/1/09, except for towns with an asterisk*... more »

cane syrup
Has anyone seen cane syrup from the south up here in the Boston area? I'd like to find some for a recipe. (If one can't find this, how does this compare to sorghum syrup, which I have seen at Whole Foods? Or Lyle's Golden Syrup?) Thanks,

I was wondering where else heirloom apples have been spotted in the Boston area. I don't suppose any of the Massachusetts (or Southern NH) apple... more »

Sushi Recommendations around Burlington, MA?
Do you know of any good sushi restaurants in Burlington? My sister is at a conference next week and she wants to go for sushi and doesn't want to head into Boston. I googled it and found two restaurants: Maki of Japan and Sarku Japan (both on the Middlesex tpke). Have you heard of either of these? Or would you suggest someplace else?... more »
