Subject: Boston 300k this Saturday
Hey NERds. The 300k is this Saturday and you have until tonight at 11pm to register online to avoid the $10 day-of
surcharge. As a reminder the 300k is an entirely new route which is a loop course out to Warwick and Wendell MA. This is
a [very] difficult ride but you're rewarded with gorgeous scenery along small back roads of the Bay State. Almost no
numbered state roads are used and there is a few short sections of dirt. The road conditions are rough at times so I'd
suggest wider tires if you have a choice.

The cue sheet will see some slight clarity revisions tonight or tomorrow but the route isn't changing so if you've already
programmed your GPSs or made a "condensed" cue sheet you should be good to go.

Here's my description of the controls:

300k Control Preview:

22m Harvard MA - Dunkin' Donuts: You know exactly what to expect at DD, which is part of the reason why it's the early
morning control. There might be an NER volunteer in the parking lot to sign your card but if not ask the DD clerk for their initials. No NER services but the DD is open and has bathrooms.

54m Ashburnham, MA - Tweedo's Variety: A very out-of-the-way independent connivence store and pizza/sandwich shop.
If there isn't an NER volunteer in the parking lot, ask to have your card signed by the clerk. Be kind and buy something if
you ask to use to restroom.

82m Warwick, MA - Town Common: NER staffed control with snacks, water, etc. Not much cell phone service out here
but WiFi available on the common for those that want to post status updates about all the climbing you've done in only
82 miles. Note, there is no bathroom or stores in Warwick.

96m Wendell, MA - Diemand Farm Store: This is a neat farmstand complete with animals on display and fresh baked
goods inside. They have a great selection of good soups which are frozen but they can be heated upon request. Water is
available.

117m Athol, MA - Dick's Bike Shop: Only 20 miles from the previous control and 7 miles to the next control so make this
stop quick. Dick is friendly and runs a small family-oriented bike shop out of his house. No energy bars and sports drinks
but the shop should have small parts if you find yourself in need.

124m Petersham, MA - Town Green: This is the last control until Hanscom so it's staffed with snacks and sandwich
fixings. There is a general store across the street if you want something beyond what's on the table.

Last Leg to Hanscom -- this 100k stretch passes by more populated areas but is still on scenic back roads. There is a nice
ice cream shop, plus a few gas stations and stores if you need a break on the way back in.

Jake

Thanks to all who helped out and organizes the 300 Saterday. I
probably would'nt have ridden at all that day, navigation was good,
and the climbing was hard. The hot pizza at the finish got me made it
all good,thanks again.  JM
