Blue Line Talent is looking for a Product Engineer for design of combustion burners. This is an excellent direct hire opportunity for an accomplished burner design professional to join an exciting new group with a global leader in engineering services.

Position: Product Engineer - Burner Technology

Work Location: Charlotte, NC

The Client: A global supplier of sustainable technology and services for mining, construction, power generation, automation, recycling and the pulp and paper industries.

Job Description:
• Responsible for the process design, technical selection and calculation of all auxiliary fired burner components to include natural gas and oil fired startup and load carrying burners as well as non-condensable gas burners for incineration in associated boilers.
• Responsibilities are to be carried out during both the proposal preparation and contract execution activities of given Power, Recovery and Service projects.

Tasks:
• Comprehend both the basic and complex work processes associated with the design of various burner technologies and their impact on environmental emissions
• Coordination of process issues against other disciplines
• Performing assignments within given time and cost limits
• Working out technical solutions in accordance with the quality requirements of the project

• Carry out pre-studies and investigations for new and existing plants regarding:
• Dimensioning given equipment and systems
• Process specifications
• Block diagram
• Flow-sheets and process and instrumentation diagrams
• Issue process requirements of external burner equipment and systems
• Process review of externally supplied equipment and systems

• Participation in start-up
• Collect experience from plants in operation for documentation and implementation
• Develop instructions and references within the business
• Provide Technical and Product support to proposals
• Make technical presentations in connection with sales activities and/or industry conferences in a clear, concise manner
• Assure optimal solutions (technically and economically)
• Provide a technical risk analysis associated with assigned projects
• Recommendations on performance guarantees
• Create and/or review technical narratives
• Support performance testing procedures and evaluation
• Ensure compliance and conformance with regulations and customer requirements
• Involvement in continuous improvement of Burner products and technology
• Participate in research and development activities to improve process knowledge
• Transfer of best practices and lessons learned
• Build strong customer relationships.

Experience Profile:
• BS degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical, Marine Engineering, or closely related
• 5+ years experience in liquid and gaseous burner design and/or operation
• Strong experience with combustion burners, flame patterns, error ratios
• Experience with auxiliary and industrial burners - fuel oil, gas, propane, natural gas
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Products (Word, PowerPoint and Excel)
• Understanding of National fire Protection Association (NFPA) code requirements
• Ability to travel to 30% - N. America and some to Europe
• Excellent presentation skills for business development support activity
• Stable record of direct employment

Helpful/Preferred:
• Control of air, shaping flame patterns, fired heaters
• Experience with Concentrated Non-Condensible Gases (CNCG)
• Dilute Non-Condensible Gases (DNCG)
• Non-Condensible Gas (NCG) incineration
• General Understanding of burner systems design for combustion and incineration
