1st. let me explain, Saffron cooks Northern food and as bbqme said
leans to the touristy creamy, though they do do a few unusual dishes.
The Tower (which has good reviews) is Southern and entirely
vegetarian.
Think of it like French and Italian cuisine, both great but
different. here is the menu from Tower http://www.towernc.com/menu.html
I know this kind of food & love it I love the dosa! It's a thin lentil-
rice crepe stuffed with potatoes. And so do many Indians, it's a
treat for Northern Indians just like it is to me.
.
So it would be easy to discuss Southern food, the various dishes,
what to look for. Plus the prices are very good.
I can look around and see if there is a good link that discusses the
basics of Indian food; the North/South divide then regions, then
regional specialties.
just tell me what you all would like

What about a Chatham Square crawl in Cary? For example, we could get
dosas, sambar, etc., at Udupi Cafe, then pop over to Cool Breeze for
some sev batata puris and other veg Indian street foods, and finish
with some sweet treats at Mithai. I know the fellow who owns Mithai
(he and his brothers went to the same school as my dad in Comilla,
Bangladesh!) and could get him to make some Bengali items especially
for us.

So everybody that wants in on this, post which of these two dates and
time work for you and we will go with the one for which the most
people are available. I'll take a final head count and call ahead to
Mr. Datta at Mithai and make arrangements for us.
P.S. Meridith, yes you're thinking of the right place.
I looked around the website to see how much of the $180 is tax deductible, and apparently none is. I wrongly assumed some of the fee went to charity.

I realize this is a bit late to be inviting you, but Lulu and I will
be going to the Gourmet Kingdom on Friday night (more like late
afternoon - dining with a preschooler is decidedly unhip) and would
love to have any of you join us if interested. We'll be getting there
between 5:45-6:00. If you'd like to join us, just please let me know
by about 4:30 on Friday so that I can ask for the right size table.
If you don't feel like eating with a chatty 3 year old, we'll
definitely understand, but she does love meeting new people and is
generally well-behaved. We had a great time there with Courtney
(Rory) and Alvin the last time.
cheers,

Looks like it, I'm free and Sant was okay, he's the one to make the special discussion with the sweet shop. Do we want to make a reservation? Sant? I'll miss you & Lulu Kari, but there is always next time.
