Local Support for Veterans Crosses Party Lines

As chairman of the Bensalem Veterans Advisory Board, I would like to thank our elected officials in Bensalem for putting veterans first.

Last Saturday, 01 December 2007, our board joined with other veterans and members of the public to discuss veterans’ issues with Congressman Patrick Murphy in an open forum.  Mayor Joe DiGirolamo and Representative Gene DiGirolamo were also on hand to talk with the veterans of Bensalem. I’m proud to say that Congressman Murphy, along with our local officials, was eager to hear from veterans and all those concerned about the well-being of veterans, military members and their families.

The Congressman, Mayor, and State Representative stood side-by-side and expressed their shared commitment to making sure that those who have served our country with dignity and honor are treated fairly after they come home.

I hear a lot about how Republicans and Democrats can't get along these days, but judging by the event at the Library, I can honestly say that our elected representatives here, in Bensalem, are willing to put party affiliation aside to ensure the veterans of this township get the care and respect they deserve.

There will be another Veterans Forum this Saturday, 08 December 2007, at the Bensalem Country Club on Brown Road. The Forum will start at 1030 and run until 1200. All Veterans, their families and concerned citizens are encouraged to attend.

The Bensalem Veterans Affairs Advisory Board meets every third Thursday of the month. In most cases we will met at the Bensalem Municipal Services Building on Byberry Road at 1900 (7PM). All Meetings are open to the public.

By the way the Bensalem Municipal Services Building is dedicated to all United States Veterans.
