NASL will award two $1000 scholarships, one to a boy and one to a girl, based on an essay about the role that soccer has played in their life. Players should be nominated by their coach or team manager and the coach or team manager may nominate more than one player from his/her U17/U18 team. The following information must also be included:

Applicant’s name, phone, mail address and e-mail address.
* Name of High
School that Senior attends.
* Name of NASL team that applicant played on in
Fall 2011.
* NASL Coach’s name and phone number.
* NASL Coach or Team
Manager nomination.
* Affirmation that applicant has a grade point average of
at least 2.5 out of 4.0.
* Affirmation that senior will be attending college
in Fall 2012.
THE ESSAY: The nominated player is to submit an essay on “The effect that soccer has had on my life” or “What soccer has meant to me” or “The role soccer has played in my life” or something similar. The essay should be between 1500-2000 words. The essay should be submitted to Andy Dye, NASL President,andy...@msn.com, as a word processor electronic file, such as Microsoft Word.
DEADLINE: The deadline for nomination by a coach AND submitting an essay is April 15, 2012. Actual essays may be turned in anytime up until midnight on April 15, 2012. The scholarship winner will be announced at the High School Final Four Tournament in Huntsville on May 11, 2012.
MINIMUM SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENT REQUIREMENTS:
Must
be a Senior at a high school in the area covered by North Alabama Soccer League.
Students who are home-schooled are also eligible if they are Seniors and will be
attending college the next fall.
Must currently be a USYSA registered player
rostered on a NASL team.
Minimum GPA requirement is a 2.5 GPA out of
4.0.
No criminal (felony) record.
Applicant must be a citizen of the
United States and a permanent resident of Alabama.
