As I have written in these pages before, I tend to take a fairly
mimimalistic approach to To-Do lists and usually like to see no more
than 10-20 tasks in my list on any given day, and certainly no more
than one "screen full" if I have checked the Include Closed Places. Of
course, this is not always possible and I am frequently faced with a
list that can be overwhelming both in length and the time required to
achieve. When previously using Life Balance, and I decided to set up
what was, for me, a small but effective and psychologically beneficial
means of dividing my list. It also works well for me now in MLO and
involves simply setting up a top level task which is a "line" created
by using the underscore key ( ____________________________________ ).
For this "task's" properties, I set Importance = normal, Urgency =
none, and no due date. Given the way I have set up the properties of
"real" tasks, I usually find that the line nicely divides my tasks in a
manner which provides me with a quick visual appreciation of tasks
requiring short term attention (above the line) and those which do not
(below the line). Just a small thing, but hopefully a useful idea for
some of you.
