Are we supposed to create our own "closed" context to use the filter option "included closed?

I haven't found much in the help file about the "included closed"
checkbox in the To-do filter.

I don't have a "closed" context, so am I just supposed to create that,
with that exact name and then add that context to a task to make it
"closed"?

Or is there some other way to "close" a task?

I'm trying to figure this out myself. The way it's supposed to work
is when you set "closed" times for contexts in the Manage Contexts
area (Tools menu), any task with only that context should be invisible
on your To Do view if the "Include closed" box is unchecked. The
problem I'm having is, even though the context is closed and "Include
closed" is unchecked, the task still shows up in my To Do view.

Another thought, are you Including Context's in other contexts? It is
some time since I used this but if you are then I think that if you have
assigned a child context to a task, then both the child and the parent
context need to be closed in order for that task to not appear in the ToDo
list.

My situation is really quite simple with my attempted use of the open/
closed contexts. I have one context for my day job tasks (open M-F
9am-5pm). When I assign tasks that context (which is open M-F
9am-5pm, closed all other times) they still appear no matter what time
I'm looking at my To Do view. The context for my day job isn't
included in any other context and vice versa.

I'm really at a loss as to why the open/closed contexts functionality
isn't working for me. But I hope through process of elimination that
I can finally figure out what is wrong, whether that be user error or
software error.

Why don't you create a small sample file, and we can try loading it and see what we can figure out?  (Save your current one and exit, then copy the file, load the copy into MLO, and delete the personal stuff from your test file. Then load your regular file again).

Then if it works for us, it could be some kind of system setup thing.  I assume your clock is correct....
