Smart date display it To Do list: Option to turn it off?

In the To do list, if a task has a start date, it is displayed in in
blue. I like to see this date, but what I don't like most of the time
is the "smart date" display, e.g. " in 3 days ", or " in 23 days".

I'd prefer to just see all dates as it is inconvenient to figure out
the actual date for a task with a smart date display (without clicking
on the task and looking in the Timing section).

I have looked for an option to turn this off with no luck. Is there a
way to do this?

Good suggestion Masago! I never thought to ask for this but it has
bothered me at times too.

I find it inconsistent that as soon as the dates go past this week
that it changes to 'in x days', even when you are nearing the end of
the week. I would rather see days of the week names for a longer time
in the future.

If hovering over the day of the week with mouse, a tooltip showing the
date might be handy!

Obviously everyone is different, so options to configure this to our
liking would be fab!

Ultimatley, if we could specify a pattern for future dates and past
dates that would be best.

I would see myself using something like the below:

Mon 12th (+3)

or

Thur 8th (-1)

Short and sweet! :) Where the number in brackets are obviously the
days future or past. It takes up almost the same amount of space, but
contains a lot more information.

Yes, yes, yes!! I'd much rather see the dates here and then if the
due date falls within a week I'd rather see days of the week, ie.
'Sunday', 'Monday', etc. Finally, if the due date is tomorrow then
leave it as it does now, displaying 'Tomorrow'.

I'd use the Lead time to determine color for the date display. So if
the task is being displayed before the lead time, display it in Blue.
If the task falls within the Lead time, Green. If the task is due
today, Yellow. If task is overdue, Red. This essentially gives the
notion that the task is heating up :-)

I like the current system (i.e. in 29 Days).

Kudos suggestion may be interesting but I like how MLO functions now.

I would vote for Kudo's suggestion with regard to my preferred format eg Mon
12th (+3) - because it gives a rich picture - sometimes I want to know the
day of the week, sometime I want to know that it is in a couple of days
time and some times I want to know the date. But given the variety of
suggestions here, the ability to configure the date format is probably the
better option.

I have trouble too, not remembering what is "in 5 days" etc.

Also related, I keep thinking a task is getting close because it says
due in 4 hours 21 minutes. Then I realize that it has appended at the
end (cut off by text field size), as if not important, the word
"overdue"

Here is another frequent problem:
I want to snooze a reminder until 17:30. Do I have to do math every
stinking time, trying to figure out how many minutes from now? I just
now tried entering "17:30" instead of "24 minutes" and clicked Snooze.
It accepted it and enabled reminders, as if it understood what I want.
But the reminder time was not changed, still set for 15:04 which I
think is when I originally set this reminder.

I quite like Kudos suggestion, seems logical and improvement on what
is displayed now.
[However, I do not see this as a high priority enhancement].

Also would like to see the day show in Start, Due, & Reminder Field
[same as outlook does, EG: Fri 16/05/08 ]

Another problem with the current way MLO works is that for past dates
it still shows names of the week. For example, I have a Due Date of
last Wednesday. Instead of showing 2008-05-21, it shows "Wednesday".
Intuitively one would think this is for this coming Wednesday
(2008-05-28).

This is very confusing and I would very much like MLO to just show the
date in the Todo list.

This is done. You will be able to snooze in Reminders Window typing
like this:

17:00
tomorrow 3pm
in 10 min
in 2d
5/10 2p
