I have been thinking about the recurrent options. For example I have a number of items that are on a daily recurrence, that I do every day. Now if I look at my list for tomorrow and these recurrent items have not yet been completed, they don't show. But whether or not I complete the recurrence today, should that really have an effect on future recurrences? Perhaps my future occurrences should already be in play? In other words should an item have to be completed in order for a recurrence to take place?

The issue is really a recurrent item can skip off the radar if you are not careful. Though one of the reasons you set a recurrence is so this doesn't happen.

Perhaps there should be an option on recurrences, to ignore a missed recurrence. A sort of automatic skip occurrence option. Or perhaps a Keep or Remove option. Keep would leave it as it stands to be manually updated.  Remove would delete/mark the current occurrence as complete at the start of the next day/next launch.

At the moment without a recurrent task being manually updated, it can disappear especially as I have noticed if you are using dates a lot. Another possible solution would be to roll-over dated tasks to the current day, including recurrences.

Anyway, just a few thoughts.

All the best

I agree with Steve: If I am looking at tomorrow’s to-do list, I should be able to see the recurrent items for tomorrow, regardless of completing today’s task.

That’s not much of a problem if the overdue task was yesterday’s (as it will show in red), but if I’m looking at the future, it is a problem, yes.

In fact, that’s a long-time problem that I have with recurrent tasks.

Not being able to see these future items impact me to the point that, for some tasks with daily recurrence I do this workaround: I create 5 versions of the task, each of them recurring to a different weekday. This way, I have a one-week horizon to look at daily recurrent tasks without being fooled.

Not sure about how hard it would be to implement, but the best solution IMO is to simply show tasks in their scheduled date in the future (eg. if I have a task set for every day 25, and I list the tasks for Feb, 25 2018 – it will be there, regardless of all previous instances being completed or not).

I too would like to see the recurrent tasks in the future.

Perhaps one option could be showing the task + (X occurrences overdue)
or just future occurrences if none are overdue.

Fore example:
Daily Task "Brush Teeth"
I look at tomorrow's task list and see "Brush Teeth" 7 occurrences
overdue
- I haven't brushed my teeth in 7 days

or

Quarterly Task "Visit Dentist"
I look at my tasks in 6 months and see "Visit Dentist" 2 occurrences
overdue
- You see the pattern

Then when MyLife Motivator comes out it can say brush your teeth and
go to the dentist or you will become an old unhappy man with no teeth,
bad breath, and have to eat soft foods for the rest of your life.

I'm using latest beta of MLO with print to pocketmod functionality.
I love the Steve's idea of "show tasks in their scheduled date in the
future" option. May be we see it some day.
Till then my work-around is that, I keep my daily reminders under
separate heading "Daily Tasks" at the base of my outline. I have setup
Page#1 of my daily Pocketmod on the zoom of this category/task "Daily
Tasks". While other pages carry the routine active actions etc from
remaining outline sections.
In this way atleast I never miss daily directions to clean my
teeth :-)
