Hi All,
Internal beta testing of new filtering functionality in MLO-Desktop
has been successfully completed. The beta has been released to public.
Please note that this is NOT a final version. Use it at your own
risk.
Download, unzip and run this beta version if you would like to test/
review new functionality and provide your feedback before final
release. It is much easier to change functionality while MLO is in
beta so your feedback and findings are appreciated.

The change log:
- feature: advanced filtering on To-Do tab
- change: improved behavior of tasks on ToDo with HideInToDo option
when "Complete subtasks in order" is used.
- change: "Places" renamed to "Contexts"
- change: <no where> renamed to (none)
- change: <all places> renamed to (all)
- change: AutoUpdate option for ToDo tab moved to the local menu
Additional notes about this release:
1) There are three default views created for you by default on To-Do
list:
- "Active Tasks" - the same view as used in previous versions of MLO
- "Active Tasks by Contexts" - the same as above but groupped by
Context
- "Next Actions by Projects" - single Next Action for each project is
added to To-Do list
You can also create any view you need using filtering functionality.
2) What is "Action Filter" on To-Do tab?
There is new filter control the on the Filter panel - "Action
Filter".
Here is the explanation of its values:
"Active" - the ToDo list will contain the task according as it worked
in previous MLO versions. Additional filter might be also applied to
the list.
"Available" - the same as "Active" with the only exception that
"Complete subtasks in order" option is not considered when building
ToDo list. So you might see all available tasks.
"Next Actions" - only one (first) task from each project will be
placed on ToDo list. If a task does not correspond to any project the
top level parent task is considered as its project.
"Completed" - place all completed tasks on ToDo list
"All" - place all tasks on ToDo list.
As I said additional filter could be applied to the list after "Action
Filter" is applied. This way you can create almost any type of lists
on your ToDo now.
3) The filter/views settings are stored in temporal file for now. The
file name is <YourDataFileName>.mflt. This is done to not change the
data file format while we in beta
4) The position of filtering UI controls are not saved to the file
yet.
5) In the dialog "Setup advanced filtering" the values for fields with
string (text) type should be taken in single quotation marks. Example:
Caption contains 'Urgent:'
Notes starts with 'Test text to start note with'
Do you like it?
Andrey.
