I noticed that moving the notes to the properties tab has been bundled intro F#270 (todo and outline together - listed below). While I do want the todo and outline together functionality, I realize it’s a big job and will be a while. On the other hand, just adding the notes field to the “Properties” tab seems a very simple enhancement that will give a very “big bang for the buck”.
So I would like to suggest pulling the Notes on Properties functionality into its own feature. Right now we have Task Statistics and the Effort sections “wasting” space for most folks who don’t use those features. I find the notes field close to unusable because I have to click to see it. When comparing against other outliners and Outlook this is a clear limitation. With the new drag and drop functionality this is a real shame because useful information is being put there.
So I would like to suggest the following straightforward change:
The Properties sections become General, Timing, Effort, Project, Task Statistics, Notes. Each one is collapsible (same as now). The Task Notes tab stays also for working with very large notes.
Thanks!

#F270 Dockable Windows (seeing the To-Do and Outline together) - New
How hard : 0 - Hard
How useful : 1 - useful
Priority : 4 - below normal
Description
Andrey, can we get a F# on seeing the todo and outline together? That is
really near the top of my personal list.
A variation would be the ability to open multiple windows on the same file.
So you can make changes in any windows and it's immediately reflected across
the windows. This would support drag/drop between different parts of the
outline for instance.
---
Sometimes it?s useful to see the notes of an item
together with its properties; sometimes it?s useful to see the outline
together with the todo-list, and so on. Different people will find useful
different combinations of information. So why not make all the sections
dockable and let the user choose the layout (in the same way Visual
Studio.NET works). Of course, the default layout would be the agreed "best"
for most users, and if you?re savvy enough (I guess a lot of MLO users are)
you can customize the layout. In the same way Visual Studio does, you can
also dock windows over the others (generating tabs).

----
Ability to have the notes panel visible below the task properties instead of separate tab.
Ability to have Notes and Tasks property in separate floating windows that are contained/constrained to the parent window of the outline and to-do lists.
---
For example, I have always used dual-pane file managers. This is really
helpful when you have a lot of moving-around file management to do. You
basically have two copies of the outline, which makes it easier to copy
and move files and folders. Could something similar be done to MLO in
the future or this would confuse things? Food for thought.

It is not a good idea, I think, to have notes in both places in the
same time. There should be an option "where would you like to see your
notes". Either on separeated tab or on Properties tab (not both).
