Hi everybody

In the process of trying to install mwlib on windows, and trying to do
this according to the PediaPress readme, I issue the command

easy_install mwlib

(where easy_install has previously be installed in c:
\python25\Scripts)

Now when issuing this command, the system returns the following:

Searching for mwlib
Reading http://pypi.python.org/simple/mwlib/
Reading http://code.pediapress.com/
Best match: mwlib 0.7.1
Downloading http://pypi.python.org/packages/source/m/mwlib/mwlib-0.7.1.tar.gz#md
5=729050a23b8e78ae84e0e5a07f566ee7
Processing mwlib-0.7.1.tar.gz
Running mwlib-0.7.1\setup.py -q bdist_egg --dist-dir c:\docume~1\janv
\locals~1\t
emp\easy_install-t6uzf0\mwlib-0.7.1\egg-dist-tmp-m8yacr
error: Setup script exited with error: Python was built with Visual
Studio 2003;

extensions must be built with a compiler than can generate compatible
binaries.
Visual Studio 2003 was not found on this system. If you have Cygwin
installed,
you can try compiling with MingW32, by passing "-c mingw32" to
setup.py.

and I will be thrown back in the command prompt:
C:\Python25\Scripts>

So installation stops at this point. Anybody any ideas ? (using
windows as OS is imperative in my case...)

Greetings from the Netherlands,

Install Visual Studio 2003 or try using mingw (cygwin may also work -
according to the above ).
We are not testing mwlib on windows. Be prepared for pain.
Maybe someone else running windows could build an egg for you (python
setup.py build bdist_egg).

All right, this answer is clear enough.

Is there a way to use Collection with another PDF server (an appliance
of any kind)?

Best regards,

read the fine manual:

*$wgCollectionMWServeURL (string)*
Set this to the URL of a render server (see above).

The default is ``"http://tools.pediapress.com/mw-serve/"``,
a public render server for low-traffic MediaWikis hosted by PediaPress.

Note that the MediaWiki must be accessible from the render server, i.e. if
your MediaWiki is behind a firewall you cannot use the public render server.

We currently do not provide a vmware image with a pdf server installation.
