The Institute of the Italian Encyclopedia, founded by Giovanni Treccani, has made available, gratis, the Dizionario
Biografico degli Italiani (DBI) on the website

     http://www.treccani.it/Portale/ricerche/searchBiografie.html

The DBI currently runs from A to M and publishes two volumes
each year, with ca. 300 entries in each volume. Editors of the music section
are Arnaldo Morelli <arnaldo.morelli at libero.it> and Federico Pirani.
