The Michigan Interdisciplinary Music Society will host its fourth annual Conversations in Music Scholarship graduate student conference February 5-6, 2010, at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. The conference will feature a keynote address given by Kofi Agawu (Princeton University) on “Tonality as a Colonizing Force in Africa,” and Ramon Satyendra (University of Michigan) will lead a graduate student workshop titled “Writing and Evaluating Music-Analytical Arguments.”
Submissions must be made electronically, and sent by November 20, 2009. The cover letter should be included in the body of the email, and the abstract (and any supplementary materials) attached to the email in .doc or .pdf format. Before sending, please be certain that all attached files will display and print clearly, and that they are free of any indication of authorship. Send electronic submissions to:

This year an award for best-written paper will be given to a chosen presenter. To be eligible for this award, accepted presenters must send a copy of their finished paper to the above email address by January 15, 2010.
