Call for Papers: �Music and the American Word��The Second Annual Loewe Symposium on American Music at the University of Redlands

Featuring: William Bolcom, Composer-in-Residence and Guest Speaker Larry Starr (University of Washington)

Conference on Saturday, March 10 with concerts and master classes March 5-10, 2012.

Deadline: January 1, 2012

This year we welcome proposals on the relationship between words and music, especially texts by American authors, in all genres: opera, art song, musical theater, cabaret, and texted or programmatic works of any kind. Papers that focus on the works of William Bolcom, his contemporaries, or that treat related issues such as polystylism or the revival of historical genres and styles are encouraged. Papers on the career of Frederick Loewe are always welcomed.
