Hi,

This may sound trivial but I am a bit confused about why the property
mo:made (and its reverse property mo:maker) is not inherited in the
subclass of mo:MusicArtist.

On a side-note, I don't think mo:maker/made are necessary in MO. Maybe
it is worth deprecating them, and fall back to their superproperties
foaf:maker and foaf:made.
As foaf:made has a foaf:Agent in its domain and that a mo:MusicArtist
is a foaf:Agent, you can apply foaf:made to a music artist.

Cheers!

Hi Yves,

I agree that this could be a good candidate for deprecation. (with a
comment that says that we suggest to use foaf:maker :) )

Take care,

Hi Yves,

Seems I was not clear in the question in the first place. As you
mentioned we have foaf:made but the question is why this object
property is not inherited to the class mo:MusicArtist from foaf:Agent
(at least protege does not show anything). I tried to add for example
<foaf:made rdf:resource="http://purl.org/ontology/mo/Hung_Up"/> to
<mo:SoloMusicArtist rdf:about="http://purl.org/ontology/mo/Madonna">
did not work.

<mo:SoloMusicArtist rdf:about="http://purl.org/ontology/mo/Madonna">
<mo:similar_to rdf:resource="http://purl.org/ontology/mo/
Mariah_Carery"/>

<foaf:made rdf:resource="http://purl.org/ontology/mo/Hung_Up"/>
<mo:similar_to rdf:resource="http://purl.org/ontology/mo/
pop"/>
<mo:similar_to>
<mo:Rock rdf:about="http://purl.org/ontology/mo/rock"/>
</mo:similar_to>
<mo:published>...

I absolutely agree :-)

Hi,
I am new to the Music Ontology. I can only find foaf:made in
http://www.musicontology.com/ am I missing mo:made?
I made my ontology from http://purl.org/ontology/mo/. Am I working on
the same Music Ontology that you refer to?

Thanks,
Kasra

I just want to make sure that we are using the same Music Ontology

You're absolutely right - this has been fixed ages ago, actually :-(
I was mixing things up with mo:member. There is indeed no
mo:maker/mo:made since about a year :-)

Really really sorry about the confusion

Koosha, might that answer your problem? There's simply no mo:made in
MO. You should be using foaf:maker/made instead.

Cheers!

:)))
I am sorry it all started from my mistake in the first post but I
tried to fix it in the second post. I see that we have foaf:made in
the properties of foaf:Agent (infact I tried using foaf:made in the
second post). But my question is why this property is not among the
inherited properties of mo:MusicArtist (since mo:MusicArtist is
subclass of foaf:Agent should inherit all properties from foaf:Agent,
right?!!).
