Grabado en 1971, el único
álbum de Amon Düül para Ohr fue una visionaria rodaja de folk ácido hoy
merecedor de la categoría de disco de culto. Folk-rock ritual, pastoriles
canciones hippies, improvisaciones drogadas, aromas orientales, pasajes
místicos y riffs hipnóticos que difieren de sus primeras improvisaciones
"freak-out" (Psychedelic Underground) o del complejo trabajo progresivo de
Amon Düül II (Phallus Dei). Éstas fueron de hecho gravaciones realizadas
por una formación distinta de Amon Düül que combinó miembros de ambas
facciones dentro de una formación flotante con varios artistas invitados,
y que fueron editadas por R.U. Kaiser sin el conocimiento o autorización
de los músicos, probablemente intentando sacar partido de la creciente
popularidad de Amon Düül II. Una grabación mítica en la que nos ofrecen
clásicos underground como "Love Is Peace", "Snow Yout Thurst Sun Open Your
Mouth" o "Paramechanische Welt". Incluídas en nuestra edición encontramos
también ambas caras de su buscadísimo single para Ohr : "Paramechanical
World" / "Eternal Flow". Otro legendario título de Ohr rescatado por Wah

Tras la edición de su álbum
de debut Osmose y de innumerables actuaciones en festivales de jazz,
Annexus Quam lidiaron con varios cambios de personal y quedaron reducidos
a un quinteto. La banda la formaban ahora Hans Kämper (trombón, guitarra
española, flauta), Harald Klemm (cítara, tabla, bendira, guitarra), peter
Werner (guitarra, percusión), Ove Volquartz (saxos tenor y soprano,
flauta) y el recién llegado Martin habenicht (bajo), artífices del LP
Beziehungen, una obra más jazzy que se sumergía en el campo del free jazz,
aunque manteniendo el típico carácter inventivo de sus primeros tiempos.
Mayores fragmentos improvisados, con piezas como las dos partes de
"Leyenburg" o "Dreh Ducht Nicht Um" de nexo de unión entre su material
anterior y sus actuales esfuerzos improvisatorios. Un clásico recomendado
a los amantes del legado experimental y progresivo del kraut rock, así

OSMOSE
Una de las más interesantes,
y sin embargo desconocidas, bandas del catálogo de Ohr, Annexus Quam
tuvieron de hecho una larga carrera desde sus inicios como Ambition Of
Music en 1967 en la localidad de Kamp-Linfort (cerca de Düsseldorf). Hacia
1970, haciendo honor a su antiguo nombre, incorporaron una gran cantidad
de influencias (la mayor de ellas, la inclusión de instrumentación de
jazz) y las mezclaron en una progresiva fusión de estilos muy personal,
atestiguada en su álbum de debut Osmose. En aquella época la banda había
pasado a ser un septeto formado por Uwe Bick (batería, percusión, voz),
Jürgen Jonuschies (bajo, voz, percusión), Werner Hostermann (clarinete,
órgano, voz, percusión), Peter Werner (guitarra, percusión, voz), Hans
Kámper (trombón, guitarra española, voz, percusión), Ove Volquartz (saxo)
y Harald Klemm (flauta, voz, percusión). Alejándose de un sonido
típicamente jazzístico fueron capaces de integrar instrumentación de rock
y jazz en un estilo único que tomaba prestados elementos de ambos géneros
pero los mezclaba en una fusión cósmica (reminiscente a veces de Third Ear
Band, Xhol Caravan o incluso Ash Ra Tempel, sin perder una fuerte
personalidad propia). De hecho, Annexus Quam eran capaces de sonar
meditativos, colocados, agresivos, exóticos y líricos en una misma canción
sin perder la coherencia musical. Con su personal estilo, que aún hoy
rehuye etiquetaciones (excepto la de ese gran paraguas que llamamos kraut
rock), Annexus Quam presentan toda la inventiva y excitación de las bandas
alemanas del período 1969/1970. Osmose: un álbum único creado por un
conjunto único, presentado en una de las más lujosas, elaboradas y
bizarras portadas desplegables jamás realizadas, ahora reeditado en toda

de Merrell Fankhauser en su larga carrera. Los chicos de Fapardokly

Tras este oscuro y
misterioso disco psicodélico británico de finales de los 60, encontramos a
los productores Brian Carroll y Damon Lyon-Shaw, también conocidos por
estar involucrados en proyectos como Factory o Five Day Rain. En los
últimos años de la década, también grabaron varios temas suyos en los
legendarios estudios IBC, además de producir a un montón de grupos
underground en su propia compañía, Homegrown. Pero One Way Ticket, lejos
de ser un grupo como tal, resulta ser el nombre que se le dio más adelante
al grupo imaginario que editaba este disco, que en realidad era una
recopilación de diferentes grabaciones en las que los productores habían
producido en sus estudios IBC, junto a algún tema que Carroll y Damon
grabaron ellos mismos. Este disco apareció en 1978 a pesar de ser
grabaciones de los 60, y apareció con créditos falsos seguramente para
cubrir a los productores ante alguna obligación contractual. Un lío del
trece, vamos. Musicalmente, encontramos desde underground psicodelia en
onda Chocolate Soup hasta bgreaky blues-psych que te puede recordar al
"Standing stone" de Oliver o a Captain Beefheart, y algunos temas en onda
glam-mod-psych. Incluye, por cierto, tres temas que Five Day Rain
versionearon en un raro álbum. Ahora por primera vez reeditado en vinilo,
con el arte original (feíto, todo sea dicho) insert con las letras, y

love to make music that makes your ears bleed," says Jochem Jacobs,
guitarist of TEXTURES - the most mind-bending Dutch experience not
available in a coffee house or the red light district; "It's all about
layering and transitions from calm, serene passages to aggressive, hyped
up stuff. We like to play with atmosphere a lot too, and vary a lot of
stuff while still maintaining an overall sense of cohesion." After the
2003 debut olars', an album practically over spilling with ideas, the
Dutch sextet merging the polyrhythmic attack of Meshuggah with Devin
Townsend influenced soaring melody and stacks of imagination to epic
effect. Rapturously received by the press both home and abroad, olars' was
bestowed with an Essent Award for ost Promising Act' in 2004, TEXTURES
hitting the road hot on the albums heels to rack up shows alongside the
likes of The Dillinger Escape Plan, Meshuggah, Morbid Angel, Machine Head

Xhol tenían ya seis años de experiencia a sus espaldas cuando el krautrock
hizo impacto por primera vez. Con sus raizes en el conjunto de rock y soul
de finales de los 60 Soul Caravan pasaron a llamarse Xhol Caravan y grabar
el crucial "Electrip" para Hansa, uno de los primeros intentos de unir
psicodélia y jazz en algo realmente original y personal. Acortando su
nombre a Xhol firmaron por Ohr y editaron el directo "Hau-Rauk" y el
misterioso "Motherfuckers GmbH & Co. Kg". Concebido como un collage
variado de piezas de archivo, recortes de sonido y libres improvisaciones,
el álbum se acerca a la locura de Faust, pero mantieniendo la actitud
freaky de Xhol. Desde "Radio", pieza elaborada jugando con el dial de una
radio, se nos transporta a los días de Soul Caravan, al viaje cósmico
"Orgelsolo" o al exótismo con flauta de "Grille". Este LP muestra la cara
más experimental de Xhol, sin olvidar su poderosa fusión de jazz, rock con
