Captains, there have been many inquiries about start order, so I'm writing this note to explain how they are determined. Please forward to your teams.
Race 1 start order is determined at random, and then from that start order, race 2-4 start orders are formulated. The objective of these first 4 start orders is to make sure each team has roughly the same average start position over 4 races. That means that no team consistently is running towards the front or back of the pack.
The Race 5 start order is simply the current team standings heading into race 5 in reverse order. So the team in the lead gets to run the course last, and vice versa. This is done to try and level the playing field, and give teams with less points an opportunity to recover.
