Hiya Peeps,

April seems to be flying by, and I just wanted to see how everyone felt about meeting again on the 4th Tuesday, April 23rd 6:30PM - 9PM.   If we're all game, when and where shall we meet?

Hi MSOLUGers,

Anyone else game for a meeting next Tuesday the 23rd at 6:30PM?  Again, I offer up my house (located on the Westside) as a good "quiet" place with decent internet access that we could meet. If we decide to proceed, I'd like to post details on our Facebook page.

I have a new topic that I would like to do:

Setting up Asterisk PBX with Google Voice and SIP phones.  If somebody want's to bring in there Raspberry Pi we can install and do the demo on one of those.  I've got a few sip phones a switch and a google voice account to play with.

I just setup 2 Asterisk servers working with google voice.  One is a virtual machine on my Win7 laptop.  The other is an instance running on an Amazon EC2 server. Pretty cool stuff.

I was just going through some old mlug emails and I noticed that Michael Loftis (from Seattle) was in town this weekend, for Mothers day. So Michael, if you're still in town, let's convene a meeting this Tuesday the 14th, and we'll talk about Bitcoin, networking, and linux etc. No presentation necessary, but it would be great to get some discussion going.

Darrick, that sounds great. I know Seth mentioned interest in Asterisk as well. Could you do a presentation this month on the 28th?

Then since bitcoin is of interest lately, let's do that June 25th, if Seth is willing and available, and whoever else would like to present about it. I think Seth was looking for someone to collaborate with on the presentation. Do we have any volunteers? Seth, do you have a suggestion for how to split up/share the presentation?

These dates are extremely flexible, so if you can't come on either of those dates but can at another time, just say the word. Also, Heather, can we take you up on your offer to use your home for the venue on one or both of those dates?

I'm hard at work completing a "clean room" box for repairing physical issues on hard drives.  Hopefully if the repairs go well I can do a presentation on that and using linux tools for data recovery.  I'll consider setting up a camera inside the enclosure so that I can use that footage at a meeting .. all time lapsed and stuff maybe.

I'm game for presenting on bitcoins.  I've done it before at a BarCamp but things have certainly changed since then.
Here is a summary of some points in the presentation in 2011.
http://missoulabarcamp.org/sessions/bitcoin-decentralized-digital-currency
(It is amusing that they were worth about $7 each back then, and now they're up to $119.50)

Michael Loftis is not in town.

I'll see if Tim Greiser is interested in doing a talk about his Arduino light setup sometime.

I'm currently having a conflict with one of the group members and I might not be willing to share space with this person.  This could mean that I might not be at a MLUG meeting until it is resolved.

My apologies,

Seth

I'm willing to help anyway I can with a bitcoin presentation. Let me know what I can do.  Have a couple PC's with sort of fast GPUs (not ATI though).

28th should be fine for an Asterisk presentation.

Hi All,

Ethan was our resident expert on Asterisk.  I hope he can make it too!

I'll be happy to open my home on Wednesday, May 28th at 6:30PM for the Asterisk meetup.  My address is 1433 Sherwood St which of course, is in Missoula.  It's nearby Russell and Broadway on the corner of Sherwood/Bulwer.  Will there be any special requirements?  I've got a big screen TV and decent internet access, so we should be good?

Special note to any dangerous weirdos lurking on this list:  I have internet accessible security cameras setup at my place (and a crazy, vicious black lab)  so don't get any goofy ideas.

Other special note:  I have a few cats, so bring your allergy medicine if applicable! ;)

Hi All,

Just a reminder of our meeting which is tonight, Tuesday May 28th (not Wednesday the 28th as I incorrectly noted before  -- doh!).  The address of the meeting is 1433 Sherwood St in Missoula. You can reach me at 406-640-4283 if need be.

Hope to see some of you in a little while!

Oh, I forgot to ask.  Can I connect a switch to your network at your house?  I've got a couple sip phones to plug in.  How long of an ethernet cable would I need?

Thanks,
Darrick

Yes. That is fine. 20 foot cable should be good!
