Hi Everyone!

Thanks to all that showed up last Thursday at REPLIK8TR Makerspace
<http://www.meetup.com/REPLIK8TR/> (which I recommend you check out, if
you have a chance!). We played around with the badge
<http://www.wired.com/threatlevel/2012/07/defcon20-badge/> I received at
this year's DEFCON conference but unfortunately, we never got it working
as expected. I may still play around when I have some free time, as
Derrick shared this
<http://forums.parallax.com/showthread.php?141494-Article-Parallax-Propeller-on-DEF-CON-20-Badge-Start-Here%21>
link after our meetup and additionally, Kyle over at REPLIK8TR sent me a
suggestion along with this link.
<http://www.parallax.com/tabid/832/Default.aspx#Software>   I'll let you
all know if I have any luck with getting the badge to work, and bring it
to a follow-up meeting for kicks and giggles.

Speaking of meeting, we need to plan the next one! I'm just going to
toss out a few dates and hopefully, we'll find one that works for most.
If you think it will be helpful to use Timebridge like I did last time,
let me know and I'll send a request from there instead. Of course, once
we confirm a date we need to make sure we can reserve a meeting room at
the Library (or, find an alternate location to hold our meeting).

Wednesday, November 14th  6:30PM - 8:00PM
Thursday, November 15th 6:30PM - 8:00PM
Tuesday, November 20th 6:30PM - 8:00PM
Wednesday November 28th 6:30PM - 8:00PM
Thursday, November 29th 6:30PM - 8:00PM

We also need to coordinate what we want to do (something more 'linux'
than the badge would be great)! Here were some of the suggestions
tossed out in our initial meeting:

Demos/Presentations
* Raspberry Pie <http://www.raspberrypi.org/faqs>
* Arduino <http://www.arduino.cc/>
* Using Linux to Monitor Windows-based network (Cacti
<http://www.cacti.net/>, Nagios <http://www.nagios.org/>)

Group Projects
* Build a Gentoo <http://www.gentoo.org/> box
* Build a Media/Streaming/DVR box/system (XBMC <http://xbmc.org/>,
MythTV <http://www.mythtv.org/>)

Guest Speakers
* Seth knows folks around the state that would be willing to come to a
meeting to speak on a variety of topics.

Thanks, all.

~h
