Hi Everyone!

Thanks to all that showed up last Thursday at REPLIK8TR Makerspace (which I recommend you check out, if you have a chance!).  We played around with the badge I received at this year's DEFCON conference but unfortunately, we never got it working as expected. I may still play around when I have some free time, as Derrick shared this link after our meetup and additionally, Kyle over at REPLIK8TR sent me a suggestion along with this link.   I'll let you all know if I have any luck with getting the badge to work, and bring it to a follow-up meeting for kicks and giggles.

Speaking of meeting, we need to plan the next one!   I'm just going to toss out a few dates and hopefully, we'll find one that works for most.  If you think it will be helpful to use Timebridge like I did last time, let me know and I'll send a request from there instead.  Of course, once we confirm a date we need to make sure we can reserve a meeting room at the Library (or, find an alternate location to hold our meeting).

Wednesday, November 14th  6:30PM - 8:00PM
Thursday, November 15th 6:30PM - 8:00PM
Tuesday, November 20th 6:30PM - 8:00PM
Wednesday November 28th 6:30PM - 8:00PM
Thursday, November 29th 6:30PM - 8:00PM

We also need to coordinate what we want to do (something more 'linux' than the badge would be great)!  Here were some of the suggestions tossed out in our initial meeting:

Demos/Presentations
* Using Linux to Monitor Windows-based network (Cacti, Nagios)

Group Projects
* Build a Gentoo box
* Build a Media/Streaming/DVR box/system (XBMC, MythTV)

Guest Speakers
* Seth knows folks around the state that would be willing to come to a meeting to speak on a variety of topics.

Thanks, all.

~h

Heather! and everyone,

A million apologies for not responding and missing November. Can we get a meeting together for December? I'm still very interested in meeting again, some time before the 20th.

Still interested in the mlug meetings? Please respond (to me personally) with preferred dates ("Y" for good dates, "X" for bad dates):

10 (M)
11 (T)
12 (W)
13 (Th)
14 (F)
17 (M)
18 (T)
19 (W)

time: 6:30-7:30 pm. Let me know if the time doesn't work.

We need to decide which topics to focus on. I think we can see what drums up the most interest, but if it's not clear we can always put it to a vote. At any rate, let's meet, discuss, and set the topic for January during the Dec. meeting.

Oh, and nice work on the facebook group page, it's looking pretty slick. See you soon.

Ryan

Thanks for the email Ryan!  November ended up becoming nuts for me between elections and volunteer gigs but I want to meet.

I'm responding with my available dates privately, now.

Typically December meetings are skipped. There are usually too many things going on due to the "Holidays".

Sincerely,
Michelle

There's no doubt December will be a busy month for many of us, but since there's no planning necessary outside of the meeting itself, I don't think it should be too big of a problem.

If you don't want to attend the December meeting but would still like a say in what we do for January, feel free to email the group about your ideas. It is a linux group after all, so we may as well conduct some of our business outside of meat-space:)
