Club Calendar?

I was talking to someone who used to belong to a larger LUG in another
city and learned they used Robert's Rules (!) at meetings.

There was also --- apparently --- a calendar of topics for meetings
planned out in advance, more assertive collection of dues and outreach
to recruit new members.

Is there any interest in this sort of thing for our LUG?

Is there a way to turn on a calendar widget in our group? Who has
permissions to do that --- if members want it even.

There's no calendar widget for google groups that I see. I don't know
what Robert's Rules is but will look into it.
We do accept voluntary yearly dues of $5/person. We do have a spot at
montanalinux.org & I think there's a calendar there.

i'm not sure roberts rules of order is for us. they are rules that
dictate the flow of meetings and we seem to do well with a kind of
free style of gathering. as for the calendar i think it's not a bad
idea but it will have to be kept updated.

Well when i post the meetings I generally try to include an event
invitation, which I think most people, well certainly those using
gmail, should be able to easily load into their calendar.

I love Robert's Rules, but I'm content to remain in loyal opposition
to Brad's and Michelle's (and Nick's) ban. Looks like its back to the
wilderness for me. :)

I'm not absolutely opposed to roberts rules, BUT it seems that our
meeting occasionally have a topic and haven't ever, at least while
i've been a member, had an actual agenda.

that being said I might say that we may have more success and stable
membership/attendance and would certainly be more organised if we did
adhere to a slightly stricter meeting schedule. The last couple of
meetings have been a little more structured than previous meetings,
and i think they have gone Much better, this may be both because of
the pre-meeting planning but i think it has more to do with having an
appropriate meeting room.

i hesitate to push for a more formal meeting schedule because it
requires more organisation and work on the part of people other than
me...

maybe it would be worth trying for a meeting... who knows.
