Built on it -- built on what?

I've been a member for 2 years -- not sure if I will renew this year.

They used to be the only real source of quality MU/Multisite plugins, but that'd changing fast since MS went into core.

Their plugins are pretty good, the UI is lacking on most and their update process can be obnoxious (large banners prompting upgrades in the admin). They seem to have a plugin for most things MS is missing or you'd want to add.

Their themes are, uh, pretty dated and not near the quality of most premium themes.

But in some cases (plugin wise) they are the only game in town.

I've heard of WPMU DEV but have never used or see the inner workings.  A friend wants me to help with a site built on it.

Looking for any input good or bad on WPMU DEV before I get in to deep.

I’ll agree with Nick.  I bought into this site when it went ‘on sale’ earlier this year.  I don’t know that I would pay full price for it when it comes back for renewal.

I haven't been a member of wpmudev.com, but I often find that their support threads come up in Google searches.  From what I see, they do a good job of responding to questions and user feedback.  I think support is one of the most important things to consider when doing anything online.
