Looking for a substitute for EventBrite in the form of a WP plugin.
Need to be able to RSVP and pay for a ticket.

EventExpresso has been recommended by Nick Ciske. Anything else?

(Or does anyone know of another site that doesn't charge such a high
fee for RSVPs and tix purchase.)

Thanks.

We've been using wufoo.com & using paypal to process the payments. I
think it's $30/month for the wufoo plan that integrates with paypal,
but it works for us because we only have the registration running for
a month or two.

Not sure if this is the kind of thing you are wanting (this is a
plugin vs a service) but a lot of my clients really like the wp
events planner plugin. Even the free version of it is extremely full
featured. You can pay for events (using the paypal express api which
is nice, goes right to credit card info and bypasses the paypal login
thing) and export a list of registrants, etc. I like it.

On a related subject. Is anyone aware of something that would help to handle seat selection for an event? I'm presuming I'd have to input some type of spreadsheet of rows and seat numbers that would render as a seating chart for folks to select actual seats. I've found someone's php code related to this but the interface was clutzy and I'm not sure I know enough php yet to do what I want, but was wondering if anyone is aware of others who have done this, and how they've done it?

Most of the systems out there that do this have a cost structure per ticket and per transaction that our school district deems unacceptable. So I'm looking for a path to implement something ourselves.
