As always: Great Work Guys! :)

I just went through the etherpad, and liked the flow of ideas. Also, one
thing that attracted me was the Firefox Os App section. What kind of an app
do you have in mind?

Just last night I was working on creating a very basic Web App containing
links to all the localized Google Docs asking the Youth Question.

The idea behind this app came to my mind when S Briggz asked me this on

Been talking to some kids away from the computer."

My guess was a mobile app would be good way of solving his problem.

to it and then will submit it the marketplace and see if it gets accepted.

Hello Sayak,

Thanks, we are trying our best. We wanted to make an app idea in relation to easy retrieval and access of information or news on the web but we decided to go and think of individual ideas and bring them together tomorrow then we start planning for it.

Sayak, the GenOpen app is a great idea, you just seem to keep amazing me with these developments. I think we should team up, bring our communities together to make collaborative efforts and build some awesome innovations, what do you say? I think it would be mind blowing....

Awesome! We can sure work on that. I'm sure that would be a great
initiative. That's the beauty of the web - everybody can collaborate,
irrespective of their geographic locations to create something awesome!
It's also one of the main ideals driving the GenOpen project.

Maybe you can start a separate thread about it on the Reps general list or
some other relevant list and cc others who are not on it. That way we can
start planning things out on an etherpad. Also, more people from other
communities can also join in. What do think?

Also +1 to starting a thread in reps on GenOpen App (exciting). Might be
worth it to ping those already talking about a GenOpen CMS Portal about
collaborating (sharing a datasource).

Thanks for the good work on that side,

I was wondering if there is a tutorial or specific guidelines that you were using for developing the app, or links that you could share, my guess is that the Firefox app days will be very resourceful but I thought that the links would help especially Lawrence and JB as they prepare for the meeting in Nairobi. I personally would love them as I will not be in Nairobi since I will be attending the African Localization Network Confrence in South Africa.

Hello Sayak,

Thanks. Which app do you think is best, the one for information and news retrieval or the one that compares two things, asks you a few assessment questions, weighs the pros and cons and gives you the best possible? We will really need you help, big time :)

For the collaborative effort, great. Should we first get communities that are willing to join in or an idea to work on? Already so far this is appearing in the webmaker list only the reps general remaining. Yes definitely we need an etherpad and other communities chipping in will be good.

I think we should gather all interested communities first before
proceeding. That way we can have a broader perspective of things, giving us
a sense of the best possible direction to proceed in.

Okay,
So from what I gather. We can build an app that on the first time of use asks you questions and prioritise what info you prefer to be fed from the web. Then in case you need information on to things your comparing or that specific thing you are looking at say you are wondering whether to buy an Ipod or a Zune, it will ask you assessment questions then scan the internet for other similar comparisons and answers and then give you the best solution plus the listed pros and cons. Like that?

For the collaborative effort, great. Should we first get communities that are willing to join in or an idea to work on?

I think we should gather all interested communities first before
proceeding. That way we can have a broader perspective of things, giving
us a sense of the best possible direction to proceed in.
 
Already so far this is appearing in the webmaker list only the reps general remaining. Yes definitely we need an etherpad and other communities chipping in will be good.
