Newsgroup message count

TB 1.5.09 XP

I know I saw this sometime ago, but unable to find.

In 1 newsgroup, there is always 1 unread message.
How do I get rid of this (don't tell me to read it <g>)

what I do is close the program, then delete the .msf file for that
folder. Then restart TB and everything works out.

completely close TB
goto TB profile folder > 'News' folder.
open newsrc file for that 'newsgroup account' in word editor
you will find a line for that newsgroup for example :
mozilla.support.thunderbird: 1-31114,31116,31118
just edit this line as :
mozilla.support.thunderbird: 1-31118
Save file
Start TB
