Suddenly a TB News folder appeared in my list of folders. I never
requested it and wonder why it appeared all of a sudden. I seem to
recall this happening once before. I go to Accounts and remove it, but
how did it get there in the first place??

PS

Although I removed it, next time I opened TB it was there again.
Something flaky going on here.

This will happen if you click on a news:// url on a web page, is this
your case?

The only websites I visit for news are New York Times, Wash Post, CNN,
and Drudge. I don't recall clicking on a url beginning news://.

The TB News folder, by the way, has appeared again, after my removing it
twice before. Rather bothersome.
Thanks

PS
I just removed this third folder, closed TB, reopened it, and lo and
behold, there is the TB News folder again! And I clicked on nothing
after removing the account--just closed TB and reopened it.

I was speaking of the problem, not where it's posted.

well, when you said "never saw that here," I just took the assumption
that you meant you never saw a complaint of the ghost news:// in this
newsgroup before

Is it a newsgroup account, or an 'RSS News and Blogs' account?

It is a newsgroup account. It did not pop up this morning. Hope the
ghostly thing continues to hibernate.

Seeing as you're both HERE -
pass the pizza,
turn down the @#$%@ TV,
let the cat out,
and share the cold ones!
:) :)

If you click on a news link, a new account will be created; and if you
click on more than one news link for the same server, a new account will
be created over top the old one. This is what causes the constant "Do
you want to subscribe to ..." prompts. If you remove the account, you
only remove one of the layers. If you keep on removing it, eventually
you will have removed all the layers, and the account will stay gone.
