Hi Nir,

Thanks for your further reply and the pointers.

I'll report back once I got to the bottom of this problem.

I still haven't managed to sort this out, and in any case, I generally
feel somewhat uneasy about everything residing on a tiny piece of
hardware (i.e. a USB stick) that one can easily lose...

I am therefore minded to move my wife back from TB Portable to the
'proper' TB.

Am I right in assuming that I can simply create a new profile for her
and then copy/move her TB profile data (in particular her mail folder
and mail settings and hopefully her address book, filters and stored
passwords) over to the new profile?

I know how to do this between 'proper' TB profiles, but I wonder whether
there are any issues I need to be aware of for the transfer from TB
Portable to TB 'standard'?

Hi Nir,

You were right all along, and I could kick myself for not checking this
out properly when you mentioned it! :-[

For some mysterious reason prefs.js had been renamed prefs-1.js and
replaced with a new prefs.js =-O

All is well again now, except that the addressbook also appears to have
been replaced with an blank version (without a '-1 copy' :-( ), but I
was able to retrieve a fairly recent version from a backup drive.

Thanks again for your help and patience.

Unfortunately, while trying to sort this out, I seem to have messed up
my wife's Firefox Portable installation, but I dare say I better start a
new thread in the FF group...
