Can someone write an add-on that would warn you when you are about to
reply to a list instead of an individual? I've done this twice myself,
but have seen it done often with some pretty awful results.

And just how exactly would a program know the difference between the
two? After all, they are just email addresses...

You always have freedom of choice, but you never have freedom of
consequence.

Still, it would be useful, no?

I wrote a fairly explicit e-mail to my wife about what was likely to
happen on a trip back home from where I was working once. When done
writing, I opened the address book, double-clicked the address, and
clicked [Send] in a smooth, practiced sequence of moves.

As the window went away, I wondered... "Ummm... Did I click on
'Susan'? or did I mistakenly click 'Sandra' (my boss)?"

I'd done it so quickly because clicking an address book entry and
[Send] were so automatic that it was almost subconscious. The two
entries were right next to each other.

Those moments would have been a little less panic filled had the
program (MR/2) been intelligent enough to ask "Are you *sure* you
want that sent to _Sandra_?" had I clicked wrongly.

Just a thought...

Let the programmers worry about that. :-)

If you'd been like me would not have made one whit of difference. Many
times I write stuff so fast and click that send its almost mechanical.
See some of the awful spellings and word choices used on some of my
post. ;-)

I'd go nuts if I had to click a 'are you sure' popup every time I sent
an email... and I don't send many emails.
That said, it brings back a memory from back in Communicator days.
Spell check used to send the mail as soon as the last word was corrected.
I once replied to a customer (and cc'd many of his associates) whose
last name was Pelanio.
Since the senders name is the last thing spell checked (when top
posting) Communicator changed Mr. Pelanio to Mr. Penile and off went the
email... oops!
I think of that every time I have to click the 'Send' button in TB Spel
checker, then it's not so annoying.
