In that case, there isn't any such extension but Tb provides an option
to ignore sub-thread (Messages > Ignore Sub-thread).

For example the "So disappointed in TB3 :-(" thread has developed a few
sub-threads in which I'm not interested. Following the thread would be
so much more efficient if I could simply click those away by collapsing
them.
I also couldn't find a request for such a feature on bugzilla. This
makes me wonder if I'm the only user who'd find that useful.

The ability to collapse, watch, and - particularly - ignore sub-threads
is a facility I have found useful in other newsreaders.
