Some RSS feed articles I click on in Thunderbird cause an annoying jump
to and focus on my browser, with a blank window with URL something like
https://r.twimg.com/jot. any ideas how to avoid this annoying link,
which presumably has something to do with Twitter?

I see that and others occasionally with RSS feed articles from Planet
Mozilla. Have no idea what causes it.

this is due to javascript being allowed for feed (folder) messages, and
the publisher likely trying to open a popup or do a redirect, which is
directed to your default browser. Tb doesn't have some of the advanced
options for web content that Fx does. you can, however, set pref
javascript.enabled to false. adblockplus is also great for tuning web
content in Tb.

see this bug:

Thank you, never thought of adblockplus ... that worked. setting
javascript.enabled to false also worked but caused problems in other areas.

Many thanks.

Thanks for the reply.

I have ABP currently disabled, but will enable it and see what happens.
