Thunderbird Not Checking Mail

All,

Sorry if this has been asked before, I'm new to the group

First off, here's a paste from Help->About, this is what I'm running.

Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux x86_64; en-US; rv:1.9.1.5) Gecko/20091209
Fedora/3.0-4.fc12 Thunderbird/3.0

When I load the app TB is not checking my mail account for new messages.
The 'Check for new messages at startup' option is checked. Also, when
I click the 'Get Mail' button, nothing happens.

However, if I click the 'V' button next to 'Get Mail' and select my mail
account, it checks for messages.

What am I missing here?

I'm using TB3 under WinXP/SP3, so this could be different in
Linux . . .

Try going to Tools --> Accounts

Select "Server Settings" for the account in question, then click on
the "Advanced" button.

Try changing the setting on this option --
"Include this server when getting new mail"
