I'm using Thunderbird (2.0.0.23, winXP) with CommnigatePro IMAP Server.
Network packets has been traced - thunderbird doesn't use that imap
server for storing of letters's tags.
Thunderbird uses *.msf files, so after reindex operation all tag's are
lost !
There is the same situation for local folder - after reindex or deleting
*.msf file all tags are lost as well
Here it is quotation from http://kb.mozillazine.org/Tags (This is a my
case!):
"This means you can't search or filter that tag, and if you delete the
.msf file in an attempt to fix a mildly corrupted folder you lose the tag."
Is it posiible to make thunderbird !always! store tag infomation in the
letter's header regardless of the letter's location - imap,pop3,local
folders ? (imho, it's more reliable place for tag info)
Is it possible some parameters exist for pref.js ?
Thanks,
Roman
POP messages - Stores tag values in 'X-Mozilla-Keys' header.
IMAP messages - Thunderbird tries to store tags as message attributes on
the IMAP server. If the IMAP server didn't support that it would store
labels locally in the .msf file for the folder. Btw, 'msf rebuild + tag
lost' problem is fixed in trunk version. So future release ( Tb3 ), you
will not face such problem.
Local folders: Tags are not added as header when copied/moved from IMAP
folder. Unless this bug[1] is fixed, it will remain a problem. But as
David hinted here[2], compact can move tag information from msf to
header. Here is a dirty workaround.
(After you finished copy of messages from remote imap folders to a local
folder, say Folder A) Copy any message from any other folder to folder
A. Delete that message from folder A. Right click on folder A and select
Compact.
