How do I import a TB addressbook to TB? I have an addressbook which has
some useful addresses already in it, thus I don't want simply to replace
it. I have another TB addressbook with lots more useful addresses and I
want them all in one place. I bet it's something really simple!
Thanks

You should define a new addressbook, then change the name of the old
addressbook file, and move it to the new profile. It will appear as a
new addressbook, and you can must drag and drop the selected addresses
into your current addressbook, and then delete the old book.
I don't know of a simple way to merge them, although there might well be
an extension to do this, or should be.

I would export the current address book.
Then replace the current with the old.
Then import the previously exported data.

Leaving you with a merged set.

Drag and drop? Seriously. Assuming you have two addressbooks visible in TB go to the one address book, select which address you wish to copy/move and drag and drop them into the other address book. As is standard, just dragging and dropping will move them - holding Ctrl down while dropping will copy them.

Why is the third hand on the watch called the second hand?

I did - it only gives options to import from Eudora, Outlook, Outlook
Express or text files (LDIF, .tab, .csv, .txt) - bit of a hole in the
spec, I would say

Thanks! That feels like a fairly elegant solution, and minimal work. I
will give it a try (taking backups of everything at every stage :-)).

Thanks - I'm sure that would work but think I may go with the next
suggestion re exporting and re-importing. Less work!

Simply highlight all entries (Control-A works) and drag and drop them to the other addressbook. What could be less work than that?

A fool-proof method for sculpting an elephant: First, get a huge block of marble; then chip away everything that doesn't look like an elephant.

Not that he listens to what I say but I've had great success using the LDIF files...

You have to stay in shape. My mother started walking five miles a day when she was 60. She's 97 now and we have no idea where she is.
