Just did a fresh install of Thunderbird 3. I purposely uncheck the
Mail Toolbar (takes 2 attempts to get rid of the checkmark). But when
I restart, it comes back.

How do I disable it permanently?

I'm having the exact same problem. Maybe there is something in the
config editor that can be changed?

Same issue here. It takes 2 attempts to finally disable it and it just
comes back.

Don't have similar issue in Tb3 ( Linux version ).

See following method fix this issue.

Close Tb.
Goto Tb profile folder.
Rename 'localstore.rdf ' file to 'localstore.rdf.renamed'.
Start Tb.
Disable Mail Toolbar.
Restart Tb.
Does the customization remain in effect?

Dne 15.12.2009 18:13, Capp napsal(a):

...i had similar problem (TB3, win XP SP3)...when i disabled (unchecked)
the Mail Toolbar it appeared again after restart or even when i changed
to different tab...
...i found out it was caused by an extention in my case ("Ab in tab" -
an experimental extention opening address book manager in new tab
instead of opening it in new window)...so it might be caused by some
extention for you too...
