i think i found the source of the problem...i used the addon
"more-functions-for-addressbook" and the problem disappeared when i
dissabled this addon...i think it has somethink to do with this addon
and the way the addresses are sorted in the address books window...hope
it will be solved by the next update of the addon...

hope your suggestion is just a joke...since TB doesnt support any
grouping of adresses in adress book i use several adress books too...in
fact that is the way i try to simplify my life...
Not really. Twelve address books seems like a LOT as most people use
only one, or perhaps two. You do know you can make lists of people in
the addressbook, and group them. My wife uses this for people she
emails daily, her family, my family, etc. But there is only ONE address
book, taking up less space (although why one should worry about space in
these days of under $100 terabyte drives is a mystery). I would go nuts
trying to maintain 12 address books. Maintaining ONE is more than I can
manage.

...to be more specific: i use from 3 to 4 address books...one is for
private use (friends, family, etc.), one for my bussiness and since i
have another job the third is for this job...of course inside thees
books i organize the contacts by creating lists for different groups
(that is why i miss some better "grouping" function than email-lists
based just on the e-mail address in TB as i would prefere to use the
address-books also for persons who dont have e-mail addresses - but
that is certainly different issue)...
...not to mention that time to time i try to experiment with different
methods and addons for transfering address books so for that purpose i
create copies of the existing not to mess with the important data...
...but the MOST IMPORTANT thing: your advice didnt help too much with
the problem itself did it? (no offence)
...by the way at the end i did find the solution for the problem by
searching through some forums and i am glad for those advices which led
me to the solution...
