Server is smtp.att.yahoo.com, for an @sbcglobal.net address.
Anyone have any clues or suggestions?
Ken
Nothing to do - they've admitted recent problems on precisely that. At
least on their servers I access, they indeed have fixed the problem,
which I and a number of other folk were seeing.
But I bet Majically her account will start working since u notified ATT .
I have deleted and recreated both of her account (pop and smtp). Uninstalled
and reinstalled TB. Still problem. I just set up accounts (pop and smtp) for
my address on her system, and no problem with them. Very mysterious!

I setup a user fixbrokenamerica on att and it could not Send e-mail
But Then I setup fixamerica and everything works
The fixbrokenamerica works on Webmail But not on pop. or SMTP
What I am Guessing is That There is a limit to how many Charectors that
can be in a email address before the @ symbol. This may be a Yahoo pop
problem or a mozilla problem
Good luck.. Maybe you and your wife will have to switch computers ?
Server rejected the sender's email address error message
The full text of this error message will generally look something like this:
The message could not be sent because the server rejected the
sender's e-mail address. The sender's e-mail address was (Email
address). Subject (Subject), Account: (Account name), Server: (Server
name), Protocol: SMTP, Server Response: '505 Authentication required',
Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 505, Error Number: 0x800CCC78
This error message means the SMTP server authentication feature is
disabled in your email client. Check your email settings and enable this
feature.
Oops, you're right, norm. My bad.
I've seen nothing about smtp problems with smtp.att.yahoo.com (although
smtpauth.flash.net ain't working through a Comcast connection down here
in FL, and I don't like using smtp.att.yahoo.com for the info it
discloses in its headers, so I recently switched to smtp.comcast.net).
Most of the time, smtp problems seem to be from a user missing one of
the settings - I know I've done it in the past.
Sending of message failed.
The message could not be sent because connecting to SMTP server
smtp.att.yahoo.com failed. The server may be unavailable or refusing SMTP
connections. Please verify that your SMTP server setting is correct and try
again, ....
to repeat, the settings have been checked and verified by AT&T support (on
screen via desktop sharing). They could not find anything to fix.

are you trying to verify an email address thru AT&T Yahoo!?
how to:
1. login using your AT&T email ID at att.yahoo.com/mail website.
2. click on OPTIONS (upper-right corner) --> MAIL OPTIONS --> select
ACCOUNTS.
3. then add the email address you're having problems with
4. a confirmation code will be sent to your email account to complete
the process.
you may click on the link below to get a detailed instruction on how to
verify an email address:
FIX ERROR 553, VERIFYING NON-ATT EMAIL ID
I got the above info from here

Thanks anyway.
If you have firewall program running in new system, configure it to
allow Tb.
Here are the basic reasons of this issue

I see your still in the Doghouse , with the Wife ?
>> Well, I've tried it with the firewall temporarily turned off. No luck.
> Cannot be your firewall since Your Account works on the Same computer .
Yeah - that's what I thought too.

Not exactly in the doghouse, as we do have a workaround. She has a web site
for her business and can use that smtp server for her personal email address
as well. Only problem with that is that it seems to hang when sending a large
(1000KB+) message. I've contacted the web host about that. In the meantime,
it's workable most of the time. I think I'm just going to give up on the
smtp.att.yahoo.com problem, and just go with the alternate route.
Thank you all for your suggestions, and a Happy Thanksgiving to all.
Ken
I didn't see it anywhere, but is your wife's a secondary account? If so, after you
added it, you should have gotten an e-mail from at&t (or yahoo, i forget) asking you
to validate it.
Or at least I did. AT&T tech support refused to deal with the fact I'm using TB. YMMV.
