Thanks..
Why do you want to get rid of the header area in the message box? The
secondary toolbar with reply, forward, archive, and delete are there,
and the forward message button, at least, might be needed. The other
buttons can be placed in the main toolbar from the customize window, but
not that one.
Thanks for your reply....
I moved those buttons you referenced up to the top tool bar where I
prefer them to be.
I'm not too concerned about the other functions, but would like to have
the real estate back. I have my forward message button on top as well.
A lot of folks agree with you on the lose of screen real state.
You might like this extension:

For RC1 version 0.99.8 should work.

Thanks for the link.
Even with compactheader, the wasted space is excessive.
I like the concept of scrolling headers, if only there were a way to
make the area smaller (and get rid of the stupid icons)
Back to the drawing board... and back to V2
JoeS....
A big thank you for this suggestion.
Makes it workable for me..0.99.8 is the one I used.
Maybe a conflicting extension, or some userChrome statement that conflicts.
See if here is anything in the error console.
Mine went away too until I noticed another new icon in the header field
that configured compactheader.
When I first installed it, my header pane turned into a thin line.
Opened the compactheader settings from within the add-on window and
messed with those (also messed with View>Headers) and the header pane
came back. Then I could see/access the compactheader icon on the header
pane.
Thanks for the extra input. Could this be a conflict with some other
extension? I really don't have a lot of them in TB.
They reason that they're on the right is (I think) so that they can be
displayed along with the from line without taking up additional vertical
space. Unfotunately, the buttons are a lot taller then the "from" line
so it doesn't look as clean as it should.
I would like to see them make it so that it displays both the
from/subject lines on the same line as the buttons - and move the time
elsewhere. That would make the buttons fit into the layout more
naturally and it wouldn't take up any additional vertical resolution.
Overall, I like the buttons there, I just think the layout in "View,
Headers, Normal" needs some tweaking.
