I wonder if there's just a way to uninstall all of them en masse and see if that helps? It's also kicking me over to the bookmarks when I visit a lot of web sites, which is grating on me. I HATE Internet Explorer but it works, and I need SM to work right.

I wasn't reading this whole group. Is there a web archive?

Why don't you just create a new profile and load the problematic (for
you) site to see if it works.

Not AFAIK, but if you've been downloading the messages you can search them locally. Here's a relevant posting that I found in about a minute:

Safe Mode and/or "disable" in the Add Ons Manager window effectively renders them non-functional. Some of them, add-ons, are installed by the operating system so SM cannot uninstall them. You would need to do that via e.g. Windows' Add/Remove Programs. But, Safe Mode and/or disable renders them non-functional.

As noted in another reply in this thread it is most likely the Adobe Flash add-on. Fix? Perhaps.

I had it set to load all images, BUT under permissions, I'd somehow blocked it from loading Google ones, which I didn't realize Captcha came from! I got rid of the whole permissions thing for Google and it works now on that Backpage site!

I'd try what someone else suggested - create a new Profile, verify that it works before changing anything, and then add/change things until it doesn't work. Then change that back and verify that it works again. That will be your culprit. Change Prefs first, then Add-ons.

It's helpful to others if you put a '[Solved]' (or similar) in the
subject line. This way others who may not have read the entire thread
will know that you've solved the issue & won't waste time/effort trying
to help further.
