Smart bookmarks are just bookmarks except their location (their URI)
starts with place: (rather than http:, ftp: or file:). See
<http://developer.mozilla.org/en/docs/Places_query_URIs>.

To recreate the 'Most Visited', 'Recently Bookmarked' or 'Recent Tags'
smart bookmarks, just create a new bookmark at the appropriate location
(e.g. the 'Smart Bookmarks' folder of the 'Bookmarks Toolbar'). Then
enter the following values (of course you can change the name to your
likings)

Name:     Most Visited
Location: place:queryType=0&sort=8&maxResults=10

Name:     Recently Bookmarked
Location:
place:folder=BOOKMARKS_MENU&folder=TOOLBAR&queryType=1&sort=12&excludeItemI fParentHasAnnotation=livemark%2FfeedURI&maxResults=10&excludeQueries=1

Name:     Recent Tags
Location: place:type=6&sort=14&maxResults=10

And another one which is not there by default; it lists the most visited
bookmarks (rather than the most visited sites):

Name:     Most Visited Bookmarks
Location: place:queryType=1&sort=8&maxResults=10
