Hi,

My web page:
www.gitededordogne.com
will not load in firefox when accessing from the internet.

However when I load it as a preview from web page software it loads fine,
and it also loads correctly in IE.

Any suggestions to assist greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Paul.

Hi,

Is there nothing that I can do then to make it load in Firefox?

It loads perfectly well in FF3 for me. Have you tried starting FF in safe
mode? It could be that a FF add-on is preventing it from loading on your
machine.

I took a momentary glance at the source of the page and saw that it seemed
to be infested with all manner of Microsoft-specific items so, for fear of
my sanity, I didn't go any further. I know from experience that problem
websites are often full of them.

Same here.

A quick check at http://validator.w3.org reveals 300 errors...what was
used to create it? Publisher? If you want a standards-compliant page,
using MS Office is definitely *not* the way to go.

Yes it was Publisher.

Is there another way?

Opens fine here with Firefox 3.0.1 on Win2k. Try clearing your cache.
Are you getting an error message when the page doesn't load for you?

Well, although there are plenty who will say that no WYSIWYG HTML
writer is ever going to do the job properly (and to a large extent
they're right), something like Kompozer will write standards-compliant
code an d produce an attractive website for you:

http://www.kompozer.net/

I'm afraid you will have to start again from scratch, though. Sorry.

Incidentally, this is what I see in FF 3.0.1 -

http://www.castlehedingham.org/screenshot.jpg

It doesn't seem to work too badly to me. However, it may look quite
different in other versions of Firefox, and with other screen
resolutions.

It might have been a DNS lookup glitch on your ISP's server.

I get the same results with FF 3.0.1, WinXP fully updated. Some
of the rendering is off (calendar and inquiry pages), but that's
probably due to MS Publisher.

I know I'm a little late to the game here, but I just had the same
problem (but I couldn't load ANY page in FF3.0.1, whereas I could in
IE7). I just cleared all private data if FF, and I'm back in
business.

Yes, I think you should really be told to do such housekeeping
when going to a new version or major update. Another frequent
problem at least for me at such times is where moving icons on/off
of toolbars, and other things like toolbars, menus and bookmarks have
non specific problems. http://kb.mozillazine.org/Corrupt_localstore.rdf
